Experiences at Tan Tock Seng Hospital & Success Human Resource Centre

Whenever I think of Tan Tock Seng Hospital(TTSH), what comes to my mind are bad experiences.

Firstly, Success Human Resource Centre recruited me with unfair clauses that restricted me from terminiating my service to TTSH, ie. I cannnot tender my resignation within the 3 months assignment, in addition to that, I need to give 1 week of notice & TTSH can dismiss me within the 3 months with or without disciplinary issue - TTSH can dismiss me if they think they don't need the extra manpower to work anymore.

The consequences to the above is that I have to pay Success Human Resource Centre 2 weeks of salary, even if I am being dismiss & not due to discilinary issue.

Secondly, Success Human Resource Centre gave me a completely different information about the job scope.

ie. Explained work scope-Job consists of preparing bills to patients & walking all the way to wards to give to ward nurses or ward clerks & emphasised that I don't need to meet patient. Ensured me that I wouldn't be working in the same building with H1N1 patients.

ie. Actual work scope-Job consists of preparing bills to patients & walking all the way to wards to give directly to patients & also talk to patients to get their signatures. I was actually work directly in the building with H1N1 patients in the wards I went to.

Thirdly, after 2 weeks of work, Mrs Peh of TTSH offered me a permanent position for her billing section but was rejected by me b'cos I knew that I wouldn't be able to handle the work & my study together.

My rejection caused unpleasantness & nusty treatments while I was at work. Which means that the team tried to make things difficult for me in my work when they knew that work procedures can be smoothen if they make some arrangements. Special arrangements were made for another temp girl while she worked.

This shows that TTSH has a work culture that is petty and revengeful when things did not work out to their desire/benefits, ie. no professionalism & working ethics.

Fourthly, another temp girl has resigned after 1 month of work & I was being asked to take over her work load b'cos TTSH has no intention to hire another temp staff. Thus, I felt like I was being forced to handle 2 persons work (taking into consideration that I can't resign without penalty). In this instance, the extra work load was previously handled by other 2 temp staffs is very heavy.

This shows that TTSH will always pay peanuts while piling more works on your shoulder as your working period in TTSH lenghtens.

Fifthly, I had rejected Mrs Peh a second time when she offered to extend my assignment to next year in order to cover for a staff maternity leave. This offer was given under the pressure that my work life wouldn't be pleasant if I rejected her. My reason for rejecting was that my crash course requires me to study for my exam in those coming months, thus my commitment causes me to have no choice but to reject.
